Last Day in Minnesota

This is it. We leave tomorrow.

I don’t know when we’ll be all settled and have the internet and everything, so I don’t know when I’ll get back to this blog. But I know that once I’m in Hong Kong, there will be so much more to talk about. The blog is pretty boring now because it’s supposed to be about life in a different country. Well, I’m not there yet. But I will be soon.

The next post will be from Hong Kong!

Ryan's Visa

Ryan finally got his visa. I don’t know why his took longer than mine. We applied at the same time.

I can’t believe we’re leaving Monday. Everything’s all ready. We closed our bank account, they’re turning off the phone on Monday, electricity & gas are later in the week since they can’t do it Monday. All the final bills will go to Ryan’s mom. We’ve already given her enough to cover everything. The internet was due on the 1st anyway – that’s Tuesday.

I’m all packed. Ryan is still packing, and will probably be packing up until we leave for the airport. I can’t think of anything else that needs to be done.

Hong Kong, here I come.

Leaving on a Jet Plane

We leave Monday! I can’t believe how excited I am! So many exclamation points! Can you read how happy my fingers are!? ‽

The apartment is spotless. I spent the last couple of weeks cleaning it like crazy. Hopefully we’ll get the deposit back. That should pay all the final bills.

We’re flying to Detroit Monday morning. That’s the last I’ll see of the USA for I don’t know how long. It’s pretty weird to be leaving home to go live in another country. Weird but exciting! Weirder still, my last American city will be Detroit.

Because of the international date line, we’ll be in Hong Kong on Tuesday.

Thursday is Chinese New Year. That’s going to be awesome. It’s like the whole country is celebrating our arrival.

Then Monday is the first day of orientation at Disneyland. Rehearsals start Thursday. After that, I’ll be performing at Hong Kong Disneyland!

Visa

I’ve been so busy lately. We’re leaving in one week!

I finally got my visa. Ryan is still waiting for his. I guess they’re going to take it to the limit. (One more time).

I think I’m in pretty good shape – ready to dance my ass off!

Minneapolis v Hong Kong

Minneapolis is dark, cloudy, cold and full of snow.

Hong Kong is sunny, warm with no snow or even rain in sight.

Exercise

When I finally get to Hong Kong I’ll be singing & dancing a lot, but I’m kind of out of shape. I haven’t sung onstage in a while and I haven’t really danced since my last Disney audition. So as of yesterday I’m going to start exercising more. My goal is to work out my muscles every day. Hopefully by the time I start working, I’ll be completely ready to go.

Flying to Hong Kong

Busy, busy, busy.

We finally got our plane tickets. We’re flying on Delta from Minneapolis to Detroit on Monday the 31st at 10:20am, and Detroit to Hong Kong at 3:25pm. We arrive in Hong Kong at 8:45pm – the next day. Minneapolis to Detroit is less than 2 hours, there is a 2 ½ hour layover in Detroit and then Detroit to Hong Kong is 16 ½ hours. The whole thing takes 20 hours and 25 minutes, but crossing the international date line will get us in on Tuesday instead of Monday.

Now all I have to do is clean the apartment, pack my bags and get my visa.

21 more days.

More Paperwork

I’m getting everything squared away before we leave – only 24 more days.

I’ve canceled all but one credit card. I’ll close my bank account tomorrow. I’ve already called the phone company, gas company, electric company. Everything’s set on their end. I still need to disconnect the internet & cable.

I’ll be cleaning the apartment for the next couple of weeks. Hopefully we can get the security deposit back. Money is a good thing to have when you move to the other side of the world.

Still waiting for my visa. Hong Kong, here I come.

Friend Issues

What do you do when two people you care about don’t like each other?

Ryan & Lynn can’t stand each other. I can never spend any time with both of them together. That really sucks because I want to and I’m running out of time to see Lynn. I’m leaving at the end of the month. Who knows when I’ll be able to come back to visit. I don’t know if she’ll ever be able to go to Hong Kong and visit me. I assume people will, but realistically, how many people are going to fly to the other side of the world just to see me?

There’s really no reason they shouldn’t like each other. Nothing big happened. There was never any major drama or episode. They just rub each other the wrong way.

I don’t want to take sides when they argue. Then he would feel betrayed because I’m his girlfriend or she would feel betrayed because I’m her friend. I can’t really agree or disagree with them anyway. Sometimes he’s right and sometimes she’s right. I just want them to stop. What are you supposed to do in that situation?

New Year's Eve 2010

Happy New Year!

Last night we went to Ryan’s house for a calm dinner with his parents and then Jeff’s place for the real party. The place was packed. I saw pretty much everyone I know – and even lots of people I don’t know. I said goodbye to most of them. I don’t know when I’ll see them again. It was sad, but happy at the same time. I’m going on a great adventure, so there’s really nothing to be sad about.

Everybody wants me to send them Disney toys. I guess with my big discount that shouldn’t be a problem, but is Hong Kong Disney stuff any different from American Disney stuff? I don’t think so, but I guess I’ll just have to wait and see.

Cheryl was even sadder than I was, so she got drunk, as usual. After a few drinks she’s never sad anymore. She’s usually very happy – sometimes too happy. It was funny when she started flashing everyone, but then she took off her shirt and bra completely and started pushing her girls in everyone’s face. She wanted to take pictures with all the guys and her tits. I don’t know, it just seemed like too much attention whoring to me. I love Cheryl, but I don’t think she should drink so much. Maybe one party where she keeps her clothes on would be a nice change of pace.

But I never complain when Cody gets naked. Maybe I’m just a hypocrite, or maybe I’d just rather look at Cody’s junk than Cheryl’s. Breasts don’t impress me all that much. I can see mine any time. There’s something about the penis that just makes it more interesting to look at. I don’t know any girl whose tits can get bigger and harder. Without a surgeon, that is.

Cody didn’t get naked last night. More’s the pity. I’ve seen him naked plenty of times already, so there’s nothing new there. Cody’s got a cute butt, but Ryan’s definitely better around the other side.

Speaking of, we didn’t have sex last night. We said we should. The last sex of 2010 & first sex of 2011. By the time we got home, he was too wasted and I was too exhausted. I guess we could have done it at the party – like some people I won’t mention – but I’ve never been that drunk, and I really wanted to see everyone while I still can. I’ll miss everybody, but I know 2011 is going to be very exciting.
